Kiyo eager to repeat history

Wednesday, April 28 2010

HM Plant Honda's Ryuichi Kiyonari is eager to make his return to a familiar hunting ground at Oulton Park this Bank Holiday weekend (1/2/3 May) as he aims to get back on the podium at a circuit that has brought him success in the past.

Kiyo has always been a real contender at the Cheshire circuit, winning six times in his previous BSB campaigns, which have included double wins in 2005 and 2006. The former BSB champion missed out on the podium at Thruxton after a tough weekend having scored a second place at the opening race at Brands Hatch. Now the Japanese ace is eager to return to winning ways in BSB for the first time since 2007.

Kiyo said: "We had a few problems at Thruxton but I hope that we have now solved these after a test at Darley Moor last week. We have made some changes to the electronics which I think will make the HM Plant Honda work better, especially at Oulton Park as the bike seems to suit the circuit there.

"For me, I love Oulton Park as it has ups and downs, fast straights and nice corners but you have to push hard to be fast as it is a challenging circuit. There are some places on the track where I remember that the HM Plant Honda works very well, but I am not going to say where it is so the other riders know where I will be fast! I am approaching Oulton Park like I did at Thruxton. I want to be at the front and finishing on the podium again like I have before."
