TF Sport heads second British GT practice at Snetterton

Saturday, August 22 2015

TF Sport's Jody Fannin and Andrew Jarman topped the second practice session ahead of qualifying for this weekend's Avon Tyres British GT Championship rounds at Snetterton today (Saturday), with Aston Martin teams looking strong on the 300 circuit.

The session opened well for TF Sport when Matt Bell posted the first truly representative time. Second practice began without the Team Russia BMW, which had suffered brake failure in the morning practice and was now undergoing repairs. Bell was joined at the head of the order by Alexander Sims in the Ecurie Ecosse BMW, albeit half a second in arrears.

Jon Barnes made it a 1-2 for Aston Martin with second-fastest time in the 22GT car as the session progressed, then Fannin moved the benchmark on by six tenths in the other TF Sport Vantage.

Below the Ecurie Ecosse car, there was a close group consisting of the VonRyan Racing McLaren, Oman Racing Team Aston and Team LNT Ginetta. Session one leader Jonny Adam was in this group as well, before taking second to consolidate the Aston Martin stranglehold.

Andrew Watson spoiled the Aston Martin party late on by taking third for VonRyan Racing, the Sims took second, just a quarter of a second shy of the leading Vantage.

GT4 saw Luke Davenport's Tolman Ginetta head the ISSY Racing Evora by seven tenths, before Gavan Kershaw closed the gap to just under a tenth. Both crews were some way clear of the title-leading Beechdean car, with University of Bolton, title-challenging Optimum and Fox Motorsport Ginettas all quicker.

The Tolman car was then challenged by the Stratton Motorsport Evora of James Nash, which got to within three one-hundredths of a second of the class leaders. Then on his final lap, Kershaw dragged the Evora ahead by six tenths, with a storming lap that broke the two minute barrier.

Qualifying will take place at 15:25.
