Merry Christmas from MSV!

Friday, December 24 2021

We have reached the end of another hugely busy and challenging, but ultimately rewarding year of motor racing on two and four wheels at MSV circuits in 2021. Whether you are a volunteer marshal, official, competitor or spectator, please take our best wishes into the winter break and have an enjoyable Christmas if you are celebrating.

Whilst it has not been entirely possible to escape the looming spectre of COVID-19, this has been a very positive year in many ways. Indeed, we have been treated to an excellent calendar of competitive on-track action in contrast to last year's severely truncated schedule.

Significantly, the vast majority of events at Brands Hatch, Donington Park, Oulton Park, Snetterton and Cadwell Park were able to run in front of a live audience. This included elite-level Bennetts British Superbike Championship and Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship meetings, which ran exclusively behind closed doors throughout 2020.

From July, all race events were able to run in front of a full crowd for the first time in almost two years. This was especially noticeable during the major championship finale weekends at Brands Hatch when the atmosphere was electric. It simply was not the same without fans.

Tarran Mackenzie's emotional BSB triumph, for example, as he emulated his father's achievements from 25 years ago benefitted hugely from a trackside crowd. There were whoops, cheers, and lots of applause - it was a key part of a truly memorable weekend. Other special moments from the BSB season included the series' emphatic return to Cadwell Park, whilst Donington Park, Oulton Park and Snetterton all hosted more than their fair share of the drama as well.

On four wheels the BTCC was decided on the final day at Brands Hatch when Ash Sutton secured a third title. Titles were also decided at Donington Park where Dennis Lind and Leo Machitski secured the British GT Championship, whilst Zak O'Sullivan was crowned in the GB3 Championship.

We once again hosted a wide range of historic meetings, themed family events, and club racing across all the venues and we're looking forward to opening our gates to fans for a full season in 2022. We have a very strong calendar in place for next year and many event tickets and season passes are available to purchase now.

Trackdays, testing and driving experiences have all been hugely popular throughout this year and a busy schedule is already in place for the next 12 months. Our PalmerSport driving experience will resume in the spring too, for another year of world-beating on-track thrills. Our game-changing Drive! experiences are back at all five MSV race circuits in January too, allowing anybody including children to experience the track from a new viewpoint.

We're closing for the festive break today (Friday 24 December) but we will be open for business once more on Tuesday 4 January. Please bear with us as any email or social media enquiries sent between now and then will be responded to when we return.

Until then, everyone at MSV would like to wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Stay safe and we'll look forward to seeing you in 2022.
