Adam Sharpe crowned first ever winner on new Snetterton 300 circuit

Saturday, March 19 2011

Adam Sharpe has written his place in the history books by becoming the first ever winner on the new Snetterton 300 circuit, securing victory in the Project 8 Saloons race held this afternoon. Sharpe, a former Le-Mans driver, started from pole but made a poor getaway and dropped several places.

However thanks to the overtaking opportunities presented by the new layout, Sharpe was quickly able to work his way back through to the front.

"It feels pretty good to be the first winner" commented Sharpe. "It was going through the back of my mind but it was a case of keeping it consistent, the guys behind were hustling all the time. I was unfortunate at the start and the other guys got fantastic starts and I had a lot of work to do."

Sharpe continued: "the circuit offers a lot more opportunities for overtaking especially against some of the bigger cars. My car was more nimble than some of the others and I had a real advantage through the new twisty section. On the straights which Snetterton used to be all about, and still is a little bit, I lacked some top end speed but the new section helped!"

Tickets are available on the gate for the second day of the MSVR Season Starter at Snetterton priced at £13 with free admission for children aged 12 and under. For more information call 0843 453 9000 or click on the link below.
