Snetterton 300 prepares for race debut this afternoon

Saturday, March 19 2011

After a winter of extensive renovations, Snetterton is gearing up for the first ever race event on the new 2.99 mile 300 layout this weekend (19/20 March).

The Project 8 Racing Saloons have the honour of being the first series to compete on the revamped circuit, with their race set to start at 1.40pm. Beforehand, the new circuit will be officially opened by the inaugural British Saloon Car Champion (now British Touring Car) Jack Sears, who was crowned champion in 1968. Sears will cut the ribbon along with Formula Two racer Alex Brundle, who, like his father Martin, originates from Kings Lynn in Norfolk.

The Club MSV Trackday Trophy will then race at 2.10pm, before a second contest for the Project 8 Racing Saloons takes place at 3.45pm. The MSV F3 Cup will make its debut appearance with a qualifying session at 4.15pm.

This weekends event also commemorates the fifth anniversary of MSVR, the racing division of MotorSport Vision, and during todays lunch break a special photoshoot will take place on the grid to commemorate the occasion.

The MSV F3 Cup will make its racing debut tomorrow (Sunday) with two races, along with action from the Lotus Cup UK, which also makes its inaugural appearance , plus the Production BMW Championship, Monoposto and Lotus on Track Elise Trophy.

Don't miss your chance to witness this historic occasion. Tickets are available on the gate for both days priced at £13. For more information call 0843 453 9000 or click on the link below.
