Double BTCC Champion Matt Neal praises Snetterton redevelopment

Thursday, January 20 2011

Two-time British Touring Car Champion Matt Neal has become the latest high profile driver to praise the new Snetterton circuit after visiting the Norfolk track to assist construction teams on the placement of kerbs.

Meanwhile, newly released aerial views of the circuit show that the 2.99 mile 300 layout is already complete, with the base and binder layers of tarmac now finished. The first section of the surface layer has been put down today (Thursday) at the revised final corner, and works continue to run on schedule. The redevelopment is due to be completed by the end of February.

"It has a very European feel to it" said Neal, who will race on the new circuit in August at the sixth round of this year's British Touring Car championship.

"It's going to be very fast and flowing with lots of areas where drivers will be trying to out-brake each other. I'm looking forward to the first day of testing here which should be really exciting! There will also be better views for spectators and more places to watch from which will be great for the Touring Car crowds," he added.

Works on shaping the new elevated spectator banks, which will offer unrivalled views of an incredible two miles of circuit, will commence next week, and are expected to take two weeks to finish.
