AC Milan tops incident-packed free practice two

Saturday, July 31 2010

After setting the pace in free practice one, AC Milan's Yelmer Buurman was again the quickest driver in an incident-filled second outing by Superleague Formula at Brands Hatch today (Saturday).

Buurman was the only driver to break the 1m14s barrier, posting a quickest lap time of 1m13.995s towards the end of the session to succeed Sporting Clube de Portugal's Andy Soucek at the top of the timesheets.

Olympiacos' Chris Van der Drift finished third fastest ahead of Beijing Guoan's John Martin, who survived a spin and a brief trip through the gravel at Clark Curve in the latter stages of the 30 minute session.

Other drivers to endure off-track excursions included ninth place finisher AS Roma's Julien Jousse, who was able to rejoin after running wide at Westfield Bend, and Corinthians' Robert Doornbos, who went off twice at Druids - the second incident bringing his session to an early close.

PSV Eindhoven's Narain Karthikeyan caused a red flag halfway through when his car spun to a halt at the start of the Brabham Straight. However, the Indian ace then steered his car back to the pits, which allowed him to rejoin the session and subsequently set the sixth quickest time behind Flamengo's Duncan Tappy.

James Walker was the quickest of the British club drivers in seventh for Liverpool FC, ahead of Olympique Lyonnais' Franck Perera. Walker's UK rival, Spurs driver Craig Dolby, rounded out the top ten.

Qualifying will commence at 3.00pm.
